Plenty of choices for Fernie voters Oct. 20
City of Fernie voters have three choices for mayor and a dozen choices for council members in the Oct. 20 municipal election.
Kevin Allen, Chief Election Officer for the City of Fernie Sept. 14 declared incumbent Mayor Mary Giuliano, current city Coun. Ange Qualizza and Sharon Switzer as Candidates for the office of Mayor.
Four incumbent councillors are seeking re-election: Phil Iddon, Kevin McIsaac, Dan McSkimming and Joe Warshawsky.
And voters have eight new candidates to consider: Greg Barnes, Kyle Hamilton, Steve Kallies, Tracey Kelly, Scott Newland, Troy Nixon, Yvonne Marie Prest and Morgan Pulsifer.
Two current councillors, Jon Levesque and Dennis Schafer, opted not to run again.
Fernie’s Frank Lento will return to School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay), as Trustee for Electoral Area 1.
