Posters created to help curb mistreatment

The Fernie Chamber of Commerce has produced and is distributing posters asking people to be patient, respectful and kind to workers during this ongoing period of staffing shortages.

“To all the business owners, managers and frontline staff… we see you working your butts off to continue to provide great service while short staffed. Thank you for continuing to show up! Each business contributes to Fernie’s vibrant community and creates memories for those living in, and visiting, Fernie,” the chamber stated on social media this morning (July 20).

“The Fernie Chamber is advocating, sharing information on immigration and retention resources, promoting work in Fernie, and doing everything within our power to try and support you during this unprecedented labour shortage.

“From conversations with members, we have unfortunately heard that once again, staff are being mistreated by frustrated customers. This is not okay,” the chamber said.

As a result the chamber has created the above poster and will be distributing them around town as a reminder to guests.
