Stage 1 water restrictions in effect in Fernie

The City of Fernie automatically implements Stage 1 water restrictions from March 1 to October 15 of each year.

These measures help conserve water during the busiest months of the year, protecting our water system and ensuring access to clean drinking water and required water flows for firefighting.

Here’s what you need to know.

Watering your lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers is limited to:

Even-numbered properties: Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

Odd-numbered properties: Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

No watering on Wednesdays.

Permitted watering windows are either 5-10 a.m. OR 8-11 p.m. for a maximum of two hours.

Food-producing gardens are exempt from Stage 1 restrictions.

Washing your car is permitted with an automatic shut-off device.

Washing outdoor surfaces like driveways, buildings, and windows is permitted with an automatic shut-off device.

Permits are available at City Hall for watering *new* seed, sod, trees, and plants daily.
