Geotechnical investigative work on City of Fernie dikes to inform a new Flood Mitigation Plan will occur Tuesday, August 7 to Friday, August 10 in areas throughout the city.

“This plan will assess the integrity of the dike systems throughout Fernie and make recommendations for areas of improvement,” the city explained on its website.

Next week, there will be crews on the dikes performing drill work. Where drilling is taking place, there will be temporary restricted access to parts of the dike trails they are drilling on.

“These shut downs will be for a short duration and signage will be posted to notify users. We ask that you adhere to signage and avoid areas where crews are working,” the city stated.
