The City of Fernie is advising residents that a contractor will be on site at the Fernie Skate Park to facilitate the removal of three trees today, Thursday, April 6.

“These trees are being removed in preparation for a new entrance and landscaping as part of the new Skatepark Redevelopment Project. Construction of the project is anticipated to start in May 2023,” the city reported.

The trees are required to be removed prior to the migratory bird nesting window which occurs in mid to late April.

Please follow posted signage and stay clear of the affected area.
