Four impaired drivers removed from road in Elk Valley
Elk Valley RCMP yesterday released a Victoria Day Long Weekend traffic enforcement update on social media.
This past Victoria Day long weekend, the RCMP focused on enhancing road safety throughout our detachment area.
Targeted enforcement from RCMP BC Highway Patrol included multiple impaired driving roadblocks in the South Country, and laser speed operations between Fernie and the B.C.-Alberta border.
As a result of these efforts:
- Four impaired drivers were removed from the road;
- Four vehicles were impounded for seven days due to excessive speeding (top speed being 175km/hour);
- 29 violation tickets were issued for speeding.
“We thank BC Highway Patrol for their assistance and remind all motorists to drive sober, obey speed limits, and keep safety top of mind—especially during long weekends,” Elk Valley RCMP noted.
“Keeping our roads safe is a shared responsibility. Let’s all do our part.”
