The City of Fernie is warning the public about a dangerous logjam in the Elk River north of the Fernie Golf Course, between the city and Hosmer.

“This logjam is extremely dangerous for users of the river,” the city stated on its website.

Signage is in place upriver of the logjam asking the public to get off the river and walk the section around this hazard, as it is not safe to pass on the water. Please obey the signage.

Please remember to exercise caution at all times when recreating on the river.
