The suspicious death investigation Elk Valley RCMP announced Dec. 6 is tied to the disappearance case of a 32-year-old Elk Valley man Dec. 2.

On December 5, shortly before 5:30 p.m. Elk Valley RCMP attended a residence located in the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue in Fernie. Upon attendance, police located a deceased person.

Police Dec. 7 confirmed that the body was that of the missing man, Jeremy Wellman, who was last seen on December 2 when he went to get gas in Fernie.

Police are continuing their investigation and are asking anyone who has any information about Jeremy Wellman’s activities prior to December 5 to contact them at (250)425-6233 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

No further information is available at this time.
