With the holiday festivities just around the corner, there is no better time to ensure that you and your family are safe.

The RCMP encourages those having a party to prevent drinking and driving. This includes smoking marijuana while driving.

Have a plan for your guests to ensure everyone gets home safely.

Some tips are:

• Have a designated driver, take a taxi or walk;
• Monitor the serving of alcohol;
• See your guests in and out. Greeting and seeing your guests out gives you the opportunity to assess their condition and help them make the safe choice to get home.

Remember, drinking and driving can be deadly.

The choice is yours and please make the right one.
