Provincial recognition for Elko Fire Battalion Chief
A member of the Elko Fire Department has been selected as the Road Rescue Public Safety Lifeline Volunteer of the Year for 2019.
Dale Hark is currently a Battalion Chief with the department and Elk Valley and South Country Rural Fire & Rescue Service Fire Chief Dave Boreen says he is most deserving of this honour.
“Dale is a trusted member of our Elko Fire Department who has earned tremendous respect for his commitment to volunteerism, his skill and his professionalism,” he said.
In addition to being a paid-on-call volunteer with the Elko Fire Department, where he responds and trains with members our South Country departments, Hark is an active member with Cranbrook Road Rescue and Cranbrook Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) Group. He responds and trains with both of these organizations on a weekly basis.
Away from the field, Hark also volunteers as a first aid attendant with the Crowsnest Lake Bible Camp throughout the summer where he provides first aid for the kids attending the camp.
“What makes his many volunteer contributions that much more incredible is that he manages to do it all while working full time at Canfor,” added Boreen. “His level of commitment and his passion for helping others is second to none and we are so pleased to see him being recognized on the Provincial stage with this award.”
Hark will be recognized in the B.C. Legislature in early April with the other 2019 Public Safety Lifeline Volunteer award winners.
