SAR activated and missing pair located at 3 a.m.
Fernie Search and Rescue (SAR) reported on social media this morning that it was tasked by the RCMP around midnight on Sunday (Oct. 20) to look for a missing young man and his 81-year-old grandmother.
The pair had left Fernie around midday to look for, and recover, a vehicle that had run out of gas out towards the Flathead on an aborted hunting trip the previous day.
“Fernie SAR and Sparwood SAR searched backcountry roads, along with friends and family members, based on the itinerary of the hunting trip. The pair was located safe and sound (by friends) around 3 a.m.,” SAR reported.
