SAR rescue injured ATV rider
On the evening of July 2, Fernie Search and Rescue was tasked by BC Ambulance to respond to an injured 54-year-old woman with hip injuries.
The injury occurred while she was riding an ATV in the Flathead area south of Tent Mountain.
A group of ATVers were able to call for assistance through their inReach, which gave Fernie SAR precise location coordinates. Two SAR techs responded via helicopter and were able to quickly find, assess and immobilize the injury, and transport the woman to a waiting BC Ambulance.
Sparwood SAR was asked to respond via forest road access, but were stood down when the helicopter reached the injured woman.
