On November 8, at approximately 12:25 p.m. Elk Valley RCMP responded to a report of damage to an excavator working near Highway 43 and Industrial Road.

A bullet passed through the cab of the excavator, breaking both the rear and front windows and narrowly missing the operator. The trajectory of the bullet indicate it would have come from the direction toward the Sparwood Schools, but it is not known how close, or far, the round may have been fired from.

Patrols were made in this area all the way to the powerline ridge with nothing located.
