In a bid to nip rumours in the bud, District of Sparwood Mayor David Wilks announced March 12 he will seek re-election in 2026

“I would like to put the rumour mill to rest. Although the next municipal election is not until October 2026, my intention is to run for Mayor again,” Wilks stated on social media.

“I have always said as long as I’m having fun and in my opinion doing a good job, I will continue to do it.”
