Free English language classes in Sparwood

As of October 2, Sparwood residents can register for free English language classes at the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce and Information Centre.

These classes are being offered by The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL), a not-for-profit organization that develops and delivers free literacy programs.

CBAL offers settlement services to help immigrants adjust to life in Canada. One of these services is English Language Classes. In the past, these classes have only been offered in Fernie, but thanks to a collaboration with WorkBC and the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce, CBAL will have the opportunity to offer a class in Sparwood as well.

English Language classes are for adult learners who would like some help with their English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

The classes will be on Tuesdays, starting on October 9, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce. They are designed so that each learner is able to work towards their own individual goals – whether it’s finding employment, access and filling out forms or being able to talk with their child’s teacher.
