Fundraising underway for fire victims

A fundraising campaign has been established for a Sparwood couple who lost most of their worldly possessions in a fire yesterday (Sept. 4).

Jeff and Sandra Speager lost their home in a fire, one of two destroyed in yesterday’s MountainView Trailer Court fire which saw the Sparwood Fire Department respond in full, with the Elkford Fire Department backing them up.

Cheryl Pumphrey and Melodie Enns have established a gofundme page, seeking donations to help out.

The page notes Sandra and Jeff shared their home for over 20 years. They were able to save their vehicles and a utility trailer but everything else was lost.

“Thankfully no one was hurt and the home next door was vacant. My parents are very proud people and have worked hard for what they have and would never ask for help but would be the first people to help out, so i am asking on behalf of them for a little help to get through until they can get on their feet again,” the gofundme page states.

“We would gratefully appreciate any help and thank you to all who have already reached out in this time of need. Thank you everyone for all your support!”

A direct donation option has also been established with an account set up if anyone would prefer to donate that way. The account number is 03070 010 7667590 at CIBC in Sparwood, B.C. under Sandra Speager.
