The following is a synopsis of what occurred during the April 21 District of Sparwood council meeting.
DELEGATIONS
Audited Financial Statements
David Adams of Adams Wooley Chartered Professional Accountants provided council with an overview of the district’s financial position prior to their acceptance of the Consolidated Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 2019. The financial statements will be included in the 2019 Annual Report when it is published in June.
BYLAWS
Financial Plan Bylaw
Financial Plan (2020-2024) Bylaw No. 1268, 2020 was given three readings. The Financial Plan sets out the objectives and policies of the municipality for 2020- 2024 for each funding source, the distribution of property value taxes and the use of permissive tax exemptions. The Plan also sets out the proposed expenditures by the municipality, funding sources and transfers between funds. The bylaw will be considered for adoption at the Regular Meeting of Council on Tuesday, May 5.
Tax Rates Bylaw
Tax Rates Bylaw No. 1269, 2020 was given three readings. The bylaw will be considered for adoption at the Regular Meeting of Council on Tuesday, May 5.
BUSINESS
Whiskey Jack MDA Agreement
Council directed Staff to prepare a modification to the Whiskey Jack Master Development Agreement (MDA) to permit Whiskey Jack to modify and expand the area called Adult Villas by 0.14 ha for a proposed development without increasing the density of development.
FJ Mitchell Elementary PAC
Council approved a grant-in-aid in the amount of $7,500 to the FJ Mitchell Elementary Parent Advisory Commission (PAC) for their playground project. The proposed playground is planned to enhance the existing play space at FJM by incorporating 12 new swings, a platform play structure, and giant stride.

TAKE NOTICE that the Committee-of-the-Whole meeting of the District of Sparwood council scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, has been cancelled.
