Sparwood ES holding Food and Toy Drive

DuringĀ the evening of Sunday, December 4, Sparwood residents can expect to see and hear the lights and sirens of emergency vehicles coming up their streets as emergency responders and volunteers make their rounds during the annual Food and Toy Drive.

BC Ambulance crews, firefighters, Search and Rescue members and Air Cadets will be going door-to-door collecting donations of non-perishable food and new unwrapped toys for Sparwood’s Food Bank and Toys for Tots program to make sure their shelves are well stocked for the holiday season. Cash donations will also be accepted and the food bank will send out tax receipts to donors who provide their name and address.

Toys for tots is looking for a few items in particular this year: family board games and books; mitts, toques and hats to fit ages from babies up to teens. They do already have plenty of stuffed animals though so won’t be needing any more.

If you won’t be home during the food drive you can leave your donations in a box or bag on your front step and we will pick them up, and for additional information or last minute updates you can check out the ā€˜Sparwood Food Drive 2016ā€™ event page on Facebook.

This annual event is in its eighth year now and every year has been a shining example of the generosity of Sparwood’s residents. We thank you for all your support over the years and are looking forward to once again bringing in truckloads of donations for a great cause!
