Sparwood Lions honour members for dedication
The Sparwood Lions Club May 7 honoured some of its volunteers for their dedication, commitment and community service.
Volunteers are the backbone of any service organization and every community is enriched by their work.
Lion Shelley Ganter Furedi, who is a ‘legacy Lion,’ followed in her father Lion Richard Ganter’s footsteps tonight, and was awarded the prestigious Judge Bryan Stevenson Fellowship Award, which recognizes outstanding Lions and individuals in Canada for community involvement and achievement.
Lion Shelley has served as secretary for seven years and has been ‘volun-told’ with the Lions’ organization since the age of five. She also received a five-year 100% attendance award at the meeting.
Lion John Baher also received the Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship Award for his commitment to Lionism. He has held multiple positions, including Secretary, Vice President and President, and has been the announcer at the Fernie Lions Demolition Derby for 20 years.
Lion Cindy Stout Dwyer was recognized for her outstanding work as Treasurer for the last seven years.
The Lions thank these members for their contributions and examples of leadership, and volunteerism, and all members for the time and commitment that make our service possible.
