Teck lands closed to overnight camping

Overnight camping on all Teck private land holdings in the Elk Valley area has been closed, as part of Teckā€™s ongoing commitment to safety and public health, the company stated in a media release this afternoon (April 9).

These steps are being taken in alignment with recently announcedĀ provincial restrictions and to ensure guidance from provincial health officers related to COVID-19 pandemic are followed. The restriction will take place immediately and will be in place until further notice, the company said.

Although overnight camping is prohibited, people may still access the lands on a day-use basis as long as they adhere to physical distancing guidelines consistent with direction from our Provincial Health Officer, including limiting unnecessary travel,Ā and acting in a socially and environmentally responsible manner on the lands.

More information, updates and maps of Teck lands are available at:Ā www.teck.com/coalmaps.

ā€œTeck thanks the public for their cooperation and will provide further updates as required,ā€ said Nic Milligan, Teckā€™s Manager, Social Responsibility.
