Grant funding study for indoor facility at Wycliffe

The Pine Ridge Roping Club, along with many equine groups, and the Regional District of East Kootenay, are so very happy to announce we have received a grant in the amount of $10,000 for a feasibility study for an indoor Multi Use Facility at the Wycliffe Exhibition Grounds.

The generous grant comes from the BC Rural Dividends Fund, which assists rural communities with populations under 25,000, diversify and strengthen their economies and communities.

Currently there is no such facility in our area for equine events that would be held in late fall, early spring, and winter months. The study will show the benefits and need for such a facility as well, show the economics and feasibility of such a facility for our area and surrounding areas.

The facility will allow for other user groups as well, such as farmers markets, sports training, school groups, livestock shows, canine events, or any activity that’s limited weather related.

The Pine Ridge Roping Club would especially like to thank our Kootenay East MLA, the Honourable Bill Bennet, who has supported this endeavour and greatly assisted in our start to the future of an indoor multi use facility.
