Through two rounds of the RBC Canadian Open at Oakville, Ontario’s prestigious Glen Abbey Golf Course, du Toit is the highest scoring amateur, currently tied for fifth overall with a score of six under, two shots back of leader Brandt Snedeker.

A junior at Arizona State University, du Toit, 21, carded a 67 on the opening day of play and followed that up with a 71 on day two.

He is currently working on the third game of the four round tourney.

Golf Canada’s website described du Toit as “a fresh face on Team Canada, Jared du Toit brings a wealth of experience to the Amateur Squad and will start as the second-best ranked Canadian male on the World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR). In two seasons with the University of Idaho, du Toit earned Freshman of the Year honours for the Western Athletic Conference to compliment eight top-10 collegiate finishes. A native of Kimberley, du Toit has become the man to beat in his home province after winning the 2015 B.C. Amateur in addition to his 2013 B.C. Junior Boys title.”
