Dynamiters’ Self named to KIJHL three stars
Trystan Self (Kimberley Dynamiters), Sean Mitchell (Princeton Posse) and Spencer Dixon-Reusz (Beaver Valley Nitehawks) have been selected as the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending March 19.
Trystan Self – Top Goalie
The Calgary product was stellar in three games for the Dynamiters earning three wins. Self stopped 95 of 98 shots for a 1.00 goals against average and .969 save percentage with one shutout. He had a 36-save shutout performance to help the Dynamiters complete their comeback against the Ghostriders and win in seven games. He then stopped 59 of 62 Nitehawks shots to help the Dynamiters take a 2-0 series lead. Self is 6-1-0 in the playoffs with a 2.05 GAA and a .933 SP.
Sean Mitchell – Top Forward
The Calahoo, Alberta product had a goal and assist for the Posse, who had a split with the Revelstoke Grizzlies in their first two games of the Okanagan Conference Final. Mitchell scored the overtime winner in a 2-1 Posse victory, then in Game 2, he helped set up Ty Russell for the opening goal on the power-play in a 2-1 Grizzlies win. Mitchell is third on the Posse in points with 13 in 11 Teck Cup Championship games.
Spencer Dixon-Reusz – Top Defenceman
The Rossland product scored two goals in three games for the Nitehawks. In Game 7 against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats, Dixon-Reusz scored his first goal to tie the game at one. In Game 2 against the Dynamiters, the 5-10, 163-pound blueliner scored the Nitehawks’ lone goal in a 5-1 loss to the Dynamiters. In 15 playoff games, Dixon-Reusz has two goals and four points.
