Grad weekend a smooth one

Kimberley RCMP is happy to report there were no issues over the Grad Weekend. Typically grads like to celebrate their success while police, parents and the community work to make it safe.

The weather created some uncertainty on Friday, but grads were still able to do the parade through the Platzl and photos at Trickle Creek Golf Course. At midnight, after the Prom, Our Place Restaurant and The Bean Tree opened up allowing the students a place to eat and hang out.

On Saturday night young people gathered outside of town on Crown land but it was managed by a local club. The club reports, “they have nothing but praise in regards to how the attendees at the party listened and understood the implications. The kids were young adults and their maturity was awesome. Thank you so much.”

Ride for Life 2016, coordinated by Amber Pasula, provided safe rides to and from the venues. They drove more than 2,500 km transporting over 300 kids.

Amber stated, “It was a very successful night, the kids were polite and appreciative, we didn’t have any problems.”

Although we can’t condone some of the choices young people make, we appreciate their maturity and behaviour over the weekend.
