Happy Hans heads to the big city for a re-fresh
Happy Hans is on the move!
Kimberley’s beloved town mascot is officially en route to Calgary, where he’ll be scanned and redrawn to bring him back to life.
Designed and created over 40 years ago by Street Characters, Happy Hans has welcomed generations to Kimberley—and now he’s getting a second chance to keep smiling for years to come.
Inspired by Chester “Happy Hans” Righton, Kimberley’s original town greeter, the mascot proudly carries forward his legacy of warm welcomes, community pride, and that iconic Bavarian spirit.
Thanks to $10,000 in funding from the City of Kimberley’s 2025–2027 Resort Development Strategy, we’re more than halfway to our goal!
With a total replacement cost of $15,000, we’re looking to raise an additional $2,500 with the help of our amazing community.
Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference.
Let’s keep Happy Hans welcoming visitors to Kimberley for generations to come!
