Kimberley dominates KIJHL March Stars
The Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) is pleased to announce its Stars of the Monthfor March.
Forward – Jaden Rusznak – Kimberley Dynamiters
Rusznak made an impact with eight goals and 16 points in nine games, while playing an average of 18:11 a game. In their 6-0 win over the Columbia Valley Rockies, the Okotoks, Alta., native recorded a hat-trick and his first goal was the insurance marker. The 6-2, 195-pound forward also set up four game-winning goals – two against the Rockies and two versus the Ghostriders and had a +18 rating.
Defence – Jackson Murphy – Kimberley Dynamiters
The three goals Murphy scored were all important – game-winners. Murphy buried the deciding goal in a 6-1 victory over the Columbia Valley Rockies on March 6; then March 23 in a 2-1 overtime win against the Fernie Ghostriders and his third one came on March 27 against the Ghostriders in a 2-1 final. He also set up five goals for eight points in nine games – a .88 points-per-game average. The Calgary blueliner played an average of 22:11 a game with a +15 rating.
Rookie – Adam Kisilevich – Kimberley Dynamiters
The Edmonton native went 7-0 facing 167 shots and saving 159 for a 1.12 goals against average and a .952 save percentage in 428 minutes. Kisilevich faced 25-plus shots in four games and had a 27-save performance in a 2-1 overtime win over the Fernie Ghostriders on March 23.
Goalie – Gibson Horne – Princeton Posse
The Lac Des Arcs, Alta., native won eight games, saving 446 of 478 shots for a 2.56 goals against average and a .933 save percentage in 751 minutes. Horne had five games in which he stopped 40-plus shots. On March 21, he saved 44 of 46 shots in a 3-2 win over the Revelstoke Grizzlies. He closed out the month with a 36-save shutout in a 9-0 win over the Grizzlies to clinch the series and advance to the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference Final.
