Kimberley Rotary hopeful walkway work to start next month

The Rotary Club of Kimberley is currently working on the plans for the rebuilding of the aging Marysville Walkway to Marysville Falls.

The rebuilt walkway will be wider, safer and accessible for people with restricted mobility.

The present walkway is 37+ years old and at end of its safe life. It is also not accessible to all.

The rebuilt walkway will be safer, flatter, wider and for the first time, accessible to those with mobility issues, or strollers, wheelchairs, etc.

Kimberley Rotary is working with the City of Kimberley, our engineering firm and a contractor to ensure a successful rebuild of this popular trail. We hope to begin work on removing the existing walkway by as early as the week of September 7.

We will advise the public once we have established a firm schedule for the required work.

This project would not be possible without the generosity and support of the Province of BC, the City of Kimberley, Columbia Basin Trust, the Regional District of East Kootenay, Home Depot, Teck Metals Ltd., the Kimberley Rotary Club and Rotary District 5080.
