Kimberley Rural Fire preliminary vote results released
The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) this morning reported 183 valid ballots were cast in the recent Kimberley Rural Fire Protection Service Assent Vote according to preliminary results.
The rural fire protection vote was for eligible electors in portions of Electoral Areas C and E.
The vote stemmed from “numerous requests from property owners to establish rural fire protection, to include properties in the Wycliffe and St. Mary Lake Road areas,” explained Electoral Area C Director and RDEK Board Chair Rob Gay last month.
The preliminary results are based on the ballot accounts from each of the voting opportunities, the RDEK noted.
The official election results will be declared on Wednesday, October 30 at 1 p.m. by the Chief Election Officer. More will be reported after at that time.
