Kimberley to celebrate opening of Outdoor Live Stage
The City of Kimberley is proud to announce the official grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its brand-new outdoor live music stage on Thursday, June 5.
This community celebration marks a significant investment in the local arts scene, providing a permanent home for performances in the heart of the city.
The festivities begin at 3 p.m. with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Local dignitaries will be in attendance to provide remarks on the project’s impact on Kimberley’s cultural landscape. Following the ceremony, the Selkirk Secondary School Jazz Choir will take the stage for a special performance, showcasing the exceptional young talent within the community. The afternoon portion of the event will run until 5 p.m. and is open to all ages.

The celebration continues into the evening with a high-energy performance by Kimberley’s own Leather Apron Revival from 7 to 9 p.m.
Known for their soulful, blues-rock sound, the band is set to provide an unforgettable inaugural concert for the new venue. While the concert is free to attend, the evening session will be a licensed event, allowing guests to enjoy local refreshments while they listen.
“We are thrilled to finally pull back the curtain on this beautiful new space,” said Mayor Don McCormick. “This stage is more than just a structure; it’s a gathering place for our residents and a platform for the incredible musicians who call Kimberley and the Kootenays home.”
Admission to both the afternoon ceremony and the evening concert is free of charge. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the music comfortably.
