Council Agenda
The next regular meeting of City of Kimberley council will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers upstairs at City Hall. The November 18 Committee-of-the-Whole Meeting is being replaced with a special meeting of council to present the 2020-2024 Operating Budget.
Remembrance Day
City Hall and the Public Works Yard will be closed on Monday, November 11 for the Remembrance Day holiday.
Mayor’s Brown Bag Lunch
On Wednesday, November 13, and on the second Wednesday of each month, Mayor Don McCormick will host a brown-bag lunch at City Hall from noon until 1:30 p.m. Bring your own lunch and have a discussion with the Mayor. This month’s discussion will be dedicated to the proposed sale of the Bootleg Gap Golf Course and the Kimberley Riverside Campground (pictured above).
Aquatic Centre Steam Room
The city wishes to thank residents for their patience as we worked through the issues at the Aquatic Centre Steam Room. It was discovered that a missing vapor barrier and lack of proper insulation had left significant damage to the walls and ceiling of the facility in the 14 years since it had been built. At the November 4 Special Council Meeting, council approved the funding to have the steam room fixed ASAP. A contractor has been selected and work will resume immediately. It is anticipated that the Steam Room will be open to the public soon.
Kimberley’s Water Quality
Everything you’ve heard about Kimberley’s water is true, it is exceptional! Recent news reports regarding lead in the water in other parts of Canada has prompted some residents to raise concerns over the state of our water. The city strives to provide safe potable water to the community and tests the water weekly to ensure it is top quality. Our most recent test, dated October 28, shows lead <0.500 ug/L, well below the 5.00 ug/L that is the guideline for drinking water quality. City Garbage Bins
Did you know that your garbage bin belongs with your house? Whether you are renting your home or own it, your garbage bin has a serial number that links it to the residence. When you move, please remember to leave the garbage bin for the next people to use. Doing so will help avoid having to pay replacement fees if the bin is missing. Thank you for your cooperation.
Catch Basins
As the cold weather approaches, the city is asking for the public’s support by helping to keep leaves and debris off the catch basins. Please report any blocked catch basins to the Operations Department at 250-427-9660 or [email protected].
Remembrance Day at the Aquatic Centre
The Aquatic Centre will be open for Public Swim on the Statutory Remembrance Day Holiday on Monday, November 11 from 1 to 4 p.m.
