Notes from City Hall
The next Regular Meeting of City of Kimberley council will be held Monday, March 9 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers upstairs at City Hall. The public is invited to attend.
Mayor’s Brown Bag Lunch
The Mayor’s Brown Bag Lunch will be held on Wednesday, March 11th and on the 2nd Wednesday of every month in 2020. Bring your lunch and join Mayor Don McCormick in Council Chambers upstairs at City Hall from 12 – 1:30 p.m.
Utility Payment Due Date
The due date for the first quarter utility bill of 2020 is Tuesday, March 10. Payments can be made by cash, cheque, debit card or online with most financial institutions.
Townsite Skating Rink Closed for the Season
Due to unseasonably warm weather, the public skating rink in Townsite, Lois Creek Park, has closed for the season.
Angle Parking
Angle parking is not permitted in the City of Kimberley, unless otherwise posted. Angle parking impedes snow plowing and narrows the traveled portion of the street, which obstructs the safe passage of emergency vehicles such as ambulances and firetrucks. Thank you for your cooperation.
CBT Community Initiatives and Affected Areas Program Funding Meeting
This public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. Presenters are chosen by the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) and will receive a letter from the RDEK in early March with details. Presenters will be given 2 minutes each to verbally introduce and summarize their Community Initiatives and Affected Areas grant proposal for Council.
On Wednesday, March 11, Summit Concrete Finishing is sponsoring a FREE public swim from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Aquatic Centre at 520 Archibald Street.
Free Family Swim
On Wednesday, March 18, Royer’s Landscaping and Property Maintenance will sponsor a FREE family swim from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please remember that all those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Spring Break at the Aquatic Centre
The Aquatic Centre is offering daily adventure camps for youth aged 5 – 11 during the weeks of March 16 – 20 and March 23 – 27. Youth under 7 are $55/day and youth aged 7-11 are $47/day. Please note that if your 7 – 11-year-old requires supervised swim, the cost will be $55/day. Camps include indoor and outdoor activities as well as swim time. Daylight Savings Time –Daylight savings time begins on Sunday, March 8 at 3 a.m. Don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead by one hour.
