City Hall and all public facilities remain closed to the public. Staff continue to work hard to ensure all City of Kimberley services are running smoothly. Seniors Helping Seniors Program
The City of Kimberley is pleased to support the Summit Community Services – Seniors Helping Seniors Program as they temporarily expand their services to help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Kimberley residents who are self-isolated, quarantined, have underlying health conditions, and anyone having difficulty getting out for supplies can seek support from the programs dedicated staff and volunteers. They will help with:
- Grocery and/or supply pick-up and delivery;
- Prescription pick-up and delivery; and
- Providing referrals to other support agencies.
Residents can call 250-427-8733 to seek support seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Utility Payment Deferral Bylaw
The penalty date for second quarter utility payments has been deferred by two months from June 10 to August 10. This will provide some financial relief for property owners who may be affected by current events by giving them two extra months to pay their utility bill. Property owners who wish to pay by the original due date are encouraged to do so. The current bylaw places a 10% penalty on any unpaid balance after the payment due date. Residents that pay utilities by auto-pay who wish to temporarily suspend their monthly payments, can complete and submit a form to City Hall. The form can be found here.
Annual Spring Clean-up
Annual spring clean-up is scheduled to begin the week of May 4. Crews will be collecting yard waste including grass, leaves, sod, plants, branches (under four feet) and hedge clippings. Check out this link for the complete schedule or visit our Facebook page.
Annual Mosquito Control Program
The annual mosquito control program is set to begin soon. The goal of the program is to suppress local mosquito populations and reduce the potential for widespread adult mosquito annoyance for the benefit of the community. City contractors will be working in areas throughout the city to conduct the annual surveillance and control program. They will ensure physical distancing practices are in place throughout the program and will not be knocking on doors. Residents in locations needing treatment will see a door hanger placed on their door and can contact contractors if needed. Helicopter treatment will begin in the coming weeks to treat hard to reach areas in the city. Thanks for your cooperation, Kimberley!

The City Planning Information Portal contains an abundance of information for builders and property owners. Containing information related to maps, zoning, property searches, permits and licences, and related bylaws, the portal can be accessed from the City website shortcuts or by following this link.
Spring Run Off
Water levels in Mark Creek and other surrounding streams can change rapidly, and can be especially high during spring run-off or ‘freshet’. Flows are extremely fast when water levels are high and present an extreme danger to anyone falling in the creek. Stay clear of the creek during periods of high flow. Bears are Waking Up, Protect Your Garbage
There have been several bear sightings in the last few days as they wake up from hibernation. Bears are looking for a quick meal and if garbage is not stored and secured properly, they will find it. Please ensure the safety of our community by keeping garbage inside until collection day or take it to the transfer station. If you cannot keep it inside, please secure your cart with a strap or lock mechanism until it is set out for pickup. Let’s work together to keep our community safe.
Backyard Fire Ban
All backyard fires in Kimberley have been banned until further notice. This ban has been put in place to ensure local air quality is a high as possible out of concern for those with respiratory concerns. The ban will also limit unnecessary calls to the fire department. We appreciate your cooperation.
