Nothing true in MLA’s latest column

Letter to the Editor

Ever wonder exactly how much of all of Columbia River-Revelstoke (NDP) MLA Norm Macdonald’s rhetoric is actually true? Well, based on the latest mistruths found in his recent “advertising” column the answer is nothing!

What Macdonald has not learned is just because he says it’s so, doesn’t make it true. Someone today called my attention to his latest negative diatribe and asked me if Norm’s rantings about new mines and closed mines is true. The answer. No, not true, not even close to being true.

Since 2011, the following new metal mines have opened: New Afton; Mt. Milligan; Barkerville Gold; Copper Mountain; Red Chris. Right now, today, there are two new metal mines under construction: Brucejack and Silvertip. That’s seven new mines since 2011. I have no idea where Norm came up with his stats, “three new mines or 16 closed mines” – just not true!

What he ought to do is push back a little more on the NDP staffers who spin this “stuff” out to their negative, frustrated and gullible Opposition MLAs.

Or even better Norm, tell your constituents what you have accomplished since you were elected. Not to worry, if you are truthful, writing it won’t take long.
