Evacuation rescinded; Wallinger closure remains

Kimberley Fire Department, in conjunction with Fortis BC early this afternoon issued an evacuation notice to residents and businesses in the 200 block of Spokane: Wallinger Avenue between Spokane Street and Howard Street at Wallinger Avenue.

As of 4:15 p.m. the precautionary evacuation has been lifted for the 200 block of Spokane Street (in the Platzl) and the 100 block of Wallinger Avenue (between Spokane and Howard). The road closure on Wallinger will remain in effect while necessary repairs are completed. Please use detours to avoid the area.

Please STAY CLEAR of the affected area until further notice. Use Kimberley Avenue to Townsite and Use Philips/Bryant/Cummings to access the lower part of Halpin to access Selkirk Hill.

More information will be provided by the city as it becomes available.
