Speed Watch hits the road

Kimberley Speed Watch is back on the roadways in and around Kimberley to promote traffic safety. The group of volunteers began another season of raising awareness through speed monitoring.

Volunteers set up at various locations identified by police or the community and check the speed vehicles are traveling at. The speed board alerts drivers to their speed and at the same time volunteers record the information. In addition to the education component the results are tabulated and turned over the police for review. From the statistics police determine whether further enforcement action is necessary.

The Kimberley Speed Watch group has been active in the community, promoting road safety for over 10 years. Members of the group set up at various times and locations from early spring to fall. If you wish to become part of the Speed Watch, please contact the Kimberley RCMP.

“Our volunteers are committed to promoting traffic safety in Kimberley. We appreciate the time and effort they dedicated to making Kimberley a safe community,” said Sgt. Chris Newel of Kimberley RCMP.
