STEAM for kids at Kimberley Public Library in February

Kimberley Public Library has some exciting STEAM based activities planned for kids throughout the month of February. STEAM learning uses interactive projects based on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math to build problem-solving skills, and improve creative and critical thinking.

Each Wednesday the library offers an after school program. The ever-popular Lego Club runs on February 1 and Feb. 15 for building and engineering fun with buckets of Lego bricks provided.

Play and Learn Club on February 8 and Feb. 22 explores everything from robotics to Inukshuks with hands-on creative and collaborative fun.

Both clubs are free of charge, drop in and age five plus.

On Saturday, February 4, the library offers two STEAM programs.

Lego Plus Club invites budding Lego engineers and architects to join the fun in creating a futuristic, legotastic, megatropolis structure. The sky really is the limit! This drop in event starts at 10.30 a.m.- 12 p.m. All materials provided free of charge, age five and up.

At 3 – 4.30 p.m., the Mega Maker Challenge presents an engineering endeavour to test the creativity and innovation of participants as they ‘Build a Spaghetti Bridge,’ using spaghetti as the primary building material. This event is drop in, all materials provided free of charge and for ages nine plus.
