USW members ratify at Trickle Creek Lodge
Workers at the hotel ratified their agreement by an overwhelming amount, voting throughout the day January 8. This was accommodated by the General Manager, Patti Andrews and was appreciated by the members of Local 1-405, USW 1-405 reported in a Jan. 13 ratification bulletin.
Some bargaining highlights included new paid leave provisions, enhancement to the employees Health and Wellness plan and a very fair wage increase all retro-active to the end of the former agreement.
“We were able to negotiate a 7.5% wage increase over three years for members at the lodge,” said Grant Farquhar, lead negotiator for USW Local 1-405. “We also improved the health and wellness plan which aids in covering the health costs for our members at the lodge.”
This round of negotiations was very productive and provided a sense of cooperation between the union and management. Both Ted Funston, Kimberley Alpine Resort General Manager and Grant Farquhar wanted to share,” The process of bargaining this year was a very positive and a collaborative effort.”
We were also fortunate that Mother Nature came to help at the resort just in time for the ski season to kick off, with an unprecedented snowfall this past week. The members at the Lodge were busy catching up following the Christmas season and are now looking forward to a busy remainder of the ski season, USW stated.
“I want to thank both bargaining committees for their tireless work throughout this process – most of the hours they spent negotiating were unpaid,” added Farquhar.
