Warmer weather brings increase in crime: RCMP

Everybody likes warmer weather… including thieves.

On April 3, Kimberly RCMP received several reports of thefts from vehicles that had occurred overnight. Typically police see a rise in crime with warmer weather.

“The majority of the items stolen were of low value, but we remind residents to lock their vehicles because it appears these were crimes of opportunity,” reported Kimberley RCMP on its Facebook page this afternoon.

The thefts occurred in Townsite, Norton Avenue and Dreamcatcher.

“Although you may believe it to be minor, or very little was taken, we do ask people to report the incidents. By tracking the locations we are able to take a proactive approach with our patrols or determine if there is a link or pattern,” RCMP informed the public.

If you have any information please contact the Kimberley detachment or Crimestoppers.
