Soar Cycle Fernie’s new spin studio

Fernie local Vanessa Avery-Willems (pictured above) recently opened Soar Cycle Studio in the heart of downtown Fernie.

Soar Cycle studioLocated in the lower level of the Castle on First, Soar Cycle Studio offers a refreshing option to the gym experience. The space is modern as is the equipment and the dynamic instructors offer unique and diverse spin and spin fusion classes, for all levels, seven days a week.

Soar Cycle Studio compliments the existing business upstairs at the Castle on First that offers yoga, dance and fitness, making the space a destination for a variety of students.

Fernie is renowned for its extensive mountain bike trails and large biking community. Soar Cycle Studio attempts to offer an environment that fully supports and supplements the outdoor cycling experience in town. The main objective is to offer spin and spin fusion classes that appeal to all levels of fitness.

Many of their classes include weight training and stretching off the bike, after the spin component, for a well-rounded, full body workout.

A desire to challenge herself and bring a modern facility that creates a coherent indoor cycling community to Fernie are what inspired Avery-Willems to open her own fitness business.

“I really fell in love with spin when I was pregnant with my third child and after visiting some spin studios in the city, I thought Fernie could use a welcoming, fun and community based environment to spin in that isn’t located in a gym,” she explained.

“We really promote team work and working at your own pace in the studio. Spin is for all levels because each rider controls the tension settings on their bike.” The studio employs seven uniquely different instructors offering classes that vary as much as their personalities, each with their own dynamic playlist designed to inspire and motivate riders to reach their goals and have fun doing it in a supportive environment.
