Coal Miner Days is getting underway in the District of Sparwood today (June 7), and runs through the weekend to Sunday, June 10.
The following is a schedule of events for this year’s weekend of fun.
Thursday, June 7
5– 10 p.m. – Sparwood Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament
Friday, June 8
4 – 6 p.m. Bike Rodeo – Arena Parking Lot
4– 9 p.m. Information Booth in Curling Rink
4 – 9 p.m. Face Painting – Curling Rink
4 – 9 p.m. Bounce Houses – Curling Rink
4 – 9 p.m. Bear Rock Climbing Wall – Recreation Centre Field
4 – 11 p.m. BBQ – Curling Rink Parking Lot
5 – 10 p.m. Poker Tournament – Recreation Centre Hall
5 – 10 p.m. Ball Hockey Tournament – Arena
6 – 6:30 p.m. Bed Races – Bottom of Red Cedar Hill (Youth Bed Races immediately following adult races)
6 – 9 p.m. Slo-pitch Tournament – Lions Park & Recreation Centre Field
6:30 – 8 p.m. Soap Box Derby Registration, Inspection & Practice – Red Cedar Hill
11 – 11:30 p.m. Fire in the Sky – Soccer field at Recreation Center

9 a.m. – 8 p.m. Ball Hockey Tournament – Arena
11 a.m. – Parade – begins at Overwaitea
11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Street Market – Curling Rink Parking Lot
11 a.m. – 5 p.m. BBQ at corner of Red Cedar and Pine Avenue
12 – 4 p.m. Information Booth – Soccer Field at Recreation Centre
12 – 4 p.m. Kids Fest – Soccer Field at Recreation Centre
