July in the East Kootenay ‘13

A photographic presentation entitled ‘July in the East Kootenay’ should be all that needs to be said if one is familiar with the natural and often SuperNatural beauty of the region.

Like we have done each month since the birth of e-KNOW in July 2011, we compile images from our travels around the East Kootenay – creating an honest presentation of how life passed in a given month.

July 2013 was a busy and crazy month for us as Carrie and I married July 27 at the spectacular Bull River Guest Ranch. We’ve been scrambling to catch up with work ever since and as a result, the volume of images we normally expect from the month with the most natural light is down fairly substantially.

Such is life.

Our image collection this month features, naturally, Bull River Ranch and area, Fernie and area, Invermere and area, Windermere, Kragmont, Jaffray, Newgate and Lake Koocanusa area, Fort Steele and Kimberley and area.

The lone image we have of Cranbrook and area is called CrossGardener – a shot of City of Cranbrook Councillor Sharon Cross weeding a section of the Rotary Park garden prior to Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau’s appearance. Life was too busy in Cranbrook in July to remove the day-to-day eyes and fire up the ‘shooter’s eye.’

All of the images were taken by myself (Ian) and Carrie, except for a wonderfully moody image of an old cabin at Fort Steele by Chad St. Pierre (slugged CSPFtSteele).

Our lead image is of the Steeples Range from near Norbury Provincial Park.

(Chad’s notes on his photo: “An old run down house on what was part of Fort Steele. It was actually just across the road. Many people are unaware that the land across from Fort Steele was actually part of Fort Steele long ago and is called home to several families who currently live there.”)
