Mountains in December
By Bob Ede
The days are short in December. Sometimes the clouds lay low all day. If you are lucky they clear just before sundown. In the valley bottom, when the sun goes down, about 4 p.m, the mountains light up, opposite, in the west. The sunsets rival the tropics in intensity, but only last a few minutes. It is in that time the mountains are defined. You can pick your route to the top. A few more minutes and darkness crawls up the sides and the moon takes over. Once you’ve been here awhile you go to sleep knowing they will be back when you awake.

During the month of December Bob Ede keeps his eyes mountain high. Some may think he’s snobby, but he’s actually Vitamin D deficient and hoping to catch a glimpse of sun. He can be reached at [email protected]
