Open house supports campers and S’more

The spirit of camping was alive and well at Fisher Peak Camping & Trailer Rentals first S’mores Open House on Saturday April 11.

“True campers don’t let wind and rain hold them back from a good time,” laughs husband and wife owners Menno and Christie Dueck.

From the minute the gates opened a steady stream of folks young and old checked out the trailer lineup.

“Many of our visitors were amazed at the number of trailers we have and the variety of floor plans they can choose from,” says Christie.

Smores fisherblueGiven the extremely windy day, the wood fire for the S’mores had to be scaled back to a propane fire ring, but that didn’t stop the desire for the ooey gooey treats, nor the donations for the Blue Lake “Blue Paddle” campership campaign…enough collected to send a child to Blue Lake Camp this summer.

Information was also shared about Blue Lake Centre itself, camp programs, and accommodation rentals.

FPeak12Throughout the day, Christie and Menno were taking nominations for a deserving family to enjoy a two-night camping experience at Kimberley Riverside Campground courtesy of Fisher Peak Camping & Trailer Rentals.

“We encouraged folks to think about someone they knew who was having a difficult time lately and you just knew that a little get away would be just what they needed.

Nominations were supposed to end after the Open House, but many wanted to take the forms home and give some more thought, so we extended it to Monday night,” shares Christie. “After much thought, Menno and I chose a family and I called them on Tuesday to give them the news. They had no idea whatsoever, which made the getaway even more fun to share. We’ll be catching up with them in the next couple of weeks to settle on dates and details.”

The Duecks are definite about doing a S’mores Open House on an annual basis and will include donations for Blue Lake Centre and another getaway by nomination; to heck with what the weather might do!
