September in the East Kootenay

September is my favourite month.

Things even out in September. There is more order in the day-to-day trickle of time and our world speeds up and slows down at the same time.

We begin to toil at survival tasks necessary to carry us through the long Canadian winter while finding time to get into the backcountry that serves as the magnet for most of us living in the East Kootenay.

The carpet of green climbing our majestic peaks becomes speckled with yellows, oranges, tans and reds. Riparian areas are even lovelier.

Blue skies, crisp mornings, fresh air and exquisite sunsets dotted September 2015 and while we didn’t get out to capture the fall to autumn as much as we’d hoped, we were still blessed with several gorgeous shooting days.

This month’s collection of images was compiled in: Cranbrook and area; Fort Steele Heritage Town (and area); Invermere; Bull River area; Fairmont Hot Springs and area; Galloway; St. Eugene Golf Resort and Casino; Wardner and area; Jaffray; Skookumchuck area; Norbury Lake Provincial Park and Torrent FSR.

Lead image: Bull River FSR (section between Galloway and Bull River Ranch).
