The benefits of yoga
By Anne Davis
Yoga can help with:
Slowing the aging process
Quitting smoking without weight gain
Allergy/asthma symptom relief
Weight control
Sounder sleep
Lowering blood pressure
Yoga involves stretching the body and forming different poses, while keeping breathing slow and controlled. The body becomes relaxed and energized at the same time. There are various styles of yoga, some moving through the poses more quickly, almost like an aerobic workout, and other styles relaxing deeply into each pose.
Yoga exercises improve circulation, stimulate the abdominal organs and put pressure on the glandular system of the body which can result in overall better health. In addition, yoga increases mental strength and general immunity in a person which, in turn, creates an enhanced willpower and determination.
No matter how young or old you are or how active, anyone can practice yoga. The idea is to explore your own personal limits, not reach for an impossible goal. Give yoga a try and stretch your way to a healthier and more relaxed you.
