Special Occasion Liquor Licences

Council approved the following Special Occasion Liquor Licenses:

Wapiti Music Festival Society

The Wapiti Music Festival Society will once again be hosting the Wapiti Music Festival in the Annex Park on Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11. As part of the festival the Society will be hosting a beer garden in an enclosed area of the park.  Hours for the beer garden are Friday, August 10, from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. and on Saturday, August 11 from 12:30 (noon) – 10:30 p.m.

Fernie Lions Club – Demolition Derby

The Fernie Lions Club will once again be hosting the Demolition Derby and beer garden on September 2, at a new location at 1800 Railway Avenue (old Hutchison farm). Hours for the beer garden will from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.  Council authorized the liquor license subject to the City receiving a certificate of insurance indicating the society has comprehensive general liability insurance (including host liquor liability insurance) with a minimum of $5,000,000 in coverage, naming the organization and/or the event and the Corporation of the City of Fernie as an additional named insured.

2013 medium duty truck with sander

Within the 2012-2016 five year financial plan, a budget of $150,000 was allocated to the purchase of a medium duty truck with Sander to replace the City’s 1997 Sander Unit. Council awarded the above noted Request for Quotation to Freightliner of Cranbrook for $120,603.85 exclusive of HST.

Bylaws

Bylaw No. 2190, cited as Municipal Ticket Information Bylaw, Amendment Bylaw No. 6 a bylaw to authorize Members of the RCMP and BC Conservation Officer Service to enforce the provisions of the Waste Regulation Bylaw by means of a municipal ticket was adopted.

Bylaw No. 2191, cited as the Streets and Traffic Bylaw No. 1400, Amendment Bylaw No. 3, 2012 a bylaw that amends the Streets and Traffic Bylaw by adding a new Section 4. (7) “the holder of a valid License of Occupation pursuant to the Outdoor Patio Policy, in effect from time to time, is exempt from the provisions of this By-law in relation to the licensed area to the extent authorized by said License of Occupation was adopted.

This would provide an exemption from the Bylaw’s regulations for an Outdoor Patio with a valid License agreement.

Design Review Panel Terms of Reference

Council gave approval to the Design Review Panel Terms of Reference and authorized staff to advertise for members to act on the Panel.

This Committee is an advisory body of the City of Fernie that provides recommendations to the Director of Planning regarding the design merits of Development Permit Applications pertaining to building and site development

Official Community Plan Advisory Committee (OCPAC Council also approved the Draft Terms of Reference and Responses received to Invitations to Participate on the OCPAC.

This Committee is an advisory body to the City of Fernie Council on all matters relating to the Official Community Plan. (OCP)
