If you’re heading outdoors in the next week, make sure you have a hat and sunscreen with you.

Hot summer weather is returning to the East Kootenay this next week.

Environment Canada is forecasting temperatures between 27 and 31 C from Saturday, August 13 to Thursday, August 18 throughout the region.

There is a 30% chance of showers on Saturday, but it’s sunny days ahead during the weekdays, with temperatures between 29 and 31 C, with the chance of some clouds rolling into the Elk Valley August 17 and 18.

Despite the less than stellar summer weather thus far, precipitation is down overall for the region in 2016. So please be careful with campfires if you’re heading out camping. The woods are dryer than you may believe.
