Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) August 29 to 6 a.m., Sept. 5.
The detachment received 158 calls for service throughout that period.
Among the calls police handled…
Three impaired drivers – all alcohol.
Four collisions – three out of town and one in the city…all minor damage and/or minor injuries.
One hit and run incident: August 30 at 11:33 a.m., a cyclist called police to report that she was hit by a vehicle while cycling south on Cranbrook St N at the A&W entrance the previous night at 7 p.m. A red vehicle pulled into A&W and hit the rear bicycle tire causing the cyclist to fall down off the bike onto her knees and hands. She received minor scrapes and no damage to bicycle. The unknown red vehicle (no plate or descriptors) drove away.
Six Mental Health Act calls – two apprehended.
10 assault complaints: four domestic in nature with three resulting in charges; one unfounded /one historical as it occurred August 17. Out of the other five only one resulted in a charge.
Seven thefts reported: three were shoplifting; one was theft from a vehicle where various items including a wallet and other thefts from a campsite at Jim Smith Lake; a business and residential property (sensor light, a blue and white Pelican kayak, a 10 foot blue single man kayak with a liquid sports sticker on the side, Inukshuk orange paddle board.
One report of property damage: resulted in charge of mischief.
One drug seizure – marijuana.
27 false alarm/ false 911 complaints.
Three persons arrested for intoxication in public place.
New officers
Cranbrook RCMP would like to welcome two police officers: Corporal Rob Donovan who come to us from New Hazelton Detachment and Cst. Peter Sanders who comes to us out of training.
Cst. Brandon Lucas has been transferred to Nunavut and on behalf of all the staff at the Cranbrook RCMP Detachment, his service to the community of Cranbrook and surrounding area was recognized as outstanding and we wish him all the best on his new adventure!
