Two arrested following downtown fight

Cranbrook RCMP is currently investigating a late night fight between a group of youth and an adult male.

On September 7, at about 10:30 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP received a call to a large fight in the 1400 block of Baker Street. The caller indicated there might be as many as 12 persons involved and that there might be weapons present.

When police arrived, a victim was located battered and bleeding. He was able to provide information to police as to who had assaulted him. The victim was taken to East Kootenay Regional Hospital, where he remains with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Two males were located a short distance away and it was determined that they were the aggressors in this incident. A 17-year-old youth from the Cranbrook area, along with a 16-year-old youth, also from Cranbrook, were arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Harm. Both youths remain in custody to be dealt with before the courts.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477). Information can also be relayed via web or text based tips with details on canadiancrimestoppers.org.
