Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) Nov. 7 to 6 a.m., Nov. 14.
Police handled 136 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
One impaired driver – alcohol.
Nine collisions – seven in town that resulted in minor injury and/or minor damage. Two outside of town with elk or result of trying avoid a deer.
One hit and run incident – suspect identified and still under investigation.
Nine Mental Health Act calls – one apprehended; three of the calls involved the same individual.
Four assault complaints: three domestic related incidents / one assault of a police officer.
Three thefts reported: one theft of a vehicle; two thefts from vehicle – one theft of cash in a remote area from an unlocked vehicle/another theft from vehicle reported by a witness and two persons arrested for theft.
One other theft: A hunter left his backpack lying beside his truck. A local good Samaritan picked it up so it wouldn’t get stolen. Backpack was returned to the owner
Two break and enter to businesses:
At 6 a.m. on Nov. 12, the front glass of a store was smashed out, male entered but nothing was stolen. The suspect male departed in a smaller vehicle.
In the early morning hours of Nov. 12 the Fedex building in the Industrial Park was broken into. One hundred plus parcels were stolen as well as one of the vans, which was later recovered a short distance away. The matter is still under investigation.
One break and enter to a residence. There as a forced entry into an unoccupied home where the following was stolen: laptop, coins, replica Blue Jays signed baseball bat, comic books. The crime was discovered November 7 but happened few days prior.
There was an attempted break and enter into a license grow op. The culprits did not get in and fled from police in a white pick up truck at a high rate of speed.
Three drug seizures – marijuana/ morphine/ crystal methamphetamine.
13 false alarms/ false 911 complaints.
Two person arrested for intoxication in public place.
